This Triumph will probably always be in and out of the shop. This belongs to a good customer of mine that upgraded from his Honda CB350.
My customer recently purchased this Thruxton brand new from the dealer! As soon as he got it, he did not hesitate to make some modifications. We initially started with the British Customs Fender Eliminator kit and retro turn signals. He rode the bike for a few weeks and was already itching to do more! He literally researched every available option for the Thruxton. With so many options out there for these bikes, we came up with a pretty good plan of attack of the next mods. Next time around we ended up installing some Woodcraft Clipons, Dime City Cycles British headlight, British Customs CNC headlight brackets, flat gauge mount and reg / rec relocation bracket, CRG Arrow bar end mirrors, LSL rear sets and frame sliders. Again, he rode his bike for a few weeks and had an itch to do even more! We started talking about some external engine mods. We went with the NARK Airbox eliminator / air induction removal kit and D&D Exhaust’s Black Ceramic Stainless Full Race Exhaust. After removing the stock airbox, air induction and installing pod filters we needed to remap the ECU to reflect the changes. We also ended up upgrading the rear suspension with some Ohlins Reservoir shocks!
Fast forward a few months…We recently just finished off the bike with a GSXR USD front end and custom set of Sun Rims and some other little goodies! The custom set of rims enabled us to go with 17″ front and rear wheels, wider rear wheel to a 4.25″ to accommodate a 160mm rear tire and also enabled us to run spokes and dual rotors up front with out Cognitomoto front hub setup! The tires we used are the Metzeler Sportec M7 and are great in the canyons. To save a little more weight we decided to go with a 520 chain conversion from Drive Systems and dropped a tooth up front as well for a little more pic up and go. Up at the controls we upgraded the Woodcraft clips ons to adapt to the new forks, went with the all new Motodemic CNC headlight brackets, Rizoma front brake reservoir and upgraded to stainless steel brake lines, installed Rizoma reverse retro bar mount mirrors and finished it of with Motogadget M-Blaze bar end LED turn signals.
We recently picked up this 2009 Triumph Thruxton for a shop project and it definitely needed a makeover. The bike was crashed and the front end was toast!
Luckily the frame was straight and there was no major damage except to the front end. We had a Yamaha R6 front end already in the shop, that we were planning on using on a different project. Once we got this Thruxton back in to the shop, we realized that the R6 front end was a much better match than the other project. We went ahead and mated the R6 front end up to the Thruxton using a bearing conversion from Allballs Racing and Cognitiomoto custom triple tree. We added some fully adjustable Progressive 970 Reservoir shocks to the rear to compliment the front end conversion / suspension upgrade.
We had Canyon Motorcycles whip up a custom front hub and custom set of their TT Wheels so we can run a spoked wheel with the R6 front end and dual rotor brakes! We also had them provide us with their rear wide wheel kit which is a 5.5″ wheel with 160 tire, custom offset front sprocket, rear sprocket and custom cush drive! We’re running the AVON Distanzia super moto compound tires. We have also installed Woodcraft clipons, old school Kawasaki style headlight, Motodemic LED style headlight and custom CNC headlight brackets, Speedhut GPS speedometer, our very own fender eliminator kit with LED integrated tail light with front matching LED forkerz signals. The exhaust is Cone Engineering Mufflers custom fitted to the head pipes with exhaust wrap.
We finished up the bike with a custom seat made by Wilder Factory with his wild secret compartment under the rear cowl. We also housed our Shorai lithium battery here and still have room for a hat and gloves! We had a custom paint job done which is black with gold pearl with racing stripe and Moto Chop Shop logos ghosted in on the sides of the tank. Keep an eye out for this one on the streets of LA!
Here we have a 2004 Triumph Bonneville that has had some tasteful mods done before even coming to us.
The bike was already equipped with British Customs Predator exhaust, some performance exhaust wrap, Keihin CR carburetors and a New Bonneville air box removal kit, Superbrace fork brace, steering stabilizer & Nology Coils / Wires. The customer reached out to us to finish the mods on the bike and to get it up and running again after sitting. We overlooked the bike when we got it in and found the carburetors weren’t tuned properly, we offered to run the bike and properly tune it on a DYNO. We tuned the carbs on the dyno and along with the other mods ended up getting 62hp at the rear wheel.
Once we got it dialed in, our customer wanted to do some more upgrades. We ended up getting him a custom Tuffside Brat Style seat made. The seat is a distressed black with dark grey stitching. We also went ahead and installed retro smoked out turn signals and a British Customs fender eliminator kit to clean up the tail section.
